Minggu 88

On Monday afternoon, the neighbor two floors down whose roof top we look down on, was out working with the birds he keeps there, so Elder got his attention and figured out how to get down to his floor, because it is not accessible from the inside of the apartment building, you have to enter from the out side to get there.  So he went down for an hour or so and they talked about his birds, there were 4 or 5 Love Birds, a Kacha (no English equivalent that he has found) and then they had a couple of Murai batu (Rock Thrush) which in the mornings when he sets their cages out, have a beautiful sound.  Elder can stand on our balcony and whistle at it and get it started singing. I did laundry and straightened things up some.  We are starting to go through things and figure out where they should go
We left at 4:30 tuesday morning to pick up Sister Hasibuan, Sister Mintono and Elder Kyle and take Elder Kyle and Sister E. Hasibuan  to the airport.  After sending Sister Hasibuan and Elder Kyle off to Jakarta as they are both headed home tomorrow, we brought Sister Sister Mintono back to Medan, as her flight isn't until tomorrow morning . Sister Mintono and I went to the fabric stores down the street this afternoon so I could buy some more batik fabric (you can never have enough fabric), we also stopped and got some lunch.  That evening we went to dinner down stairs at the Coffee Box.
Sister Mintono and I having lunch after shopping. They bring everything and you eat what you want and then they take away what you don't eat and figure the price from what is left.
We got up at 4:30 am again to go to the airport with Sister Mintono, got her checked in and something to eat, then waited for her boarding time.  After we got her sent off we stayed at the airport waiting to pick up Elder Haws, who is replacing Elder Kyle.  Only one trip because Elder can only stand as he calls it "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" so many times a day. We did this week's shopping and got some wiper-fluid for the car, but Elder hasn't told Bro. Manalu yet because if he knows he did he will use it, and he uses a lot of it each time.
At the airport there were quite a few men dressed in the traditional clothing like this
This is what their scaffolding looks like.  That is bamboo.
On Thursday there was a youth activity, so we visited with those who came to it, they watched a couple of church movies.
On friday they had an activity at the church.  A surprise Birthday party for Sister Ezra.  So there was lots of cooking in the early afternoon, those cooking were Sister Imelda, Sister Ezra, Sister Sinaga, Brother Ronald and maybe a few others.  Sister Ezra didn't know she was helping for her own party. We didn't hear about the activity until late Thursday night.  If I understand this is a 4 day holiday weekend.  We did some work with Samual, Buyung and Dearly on their PEF renewal applications, which has been hard because they modified the system and it does not do all the things it should do.  Some of the young adults were going on a night hike, but we thought it better if Elder Tucker and I not go.

On Saturday after cleaning up church a little, Elder played with the media player & sound system to see if he could get the media player to interface with the projector and the sound system in the building. We met with the missionaries and Bro Pardede for BML meeting and then set up for English. I stayed and helped the Elders teach English.  I then taught a keyboard lesson.  We stayed at the building until everyone was going to go play Footsal, and we headed home for dinner and called it a night.
Today I had a keyboard lesson after church and then we visited with some of the members for a while.  We had Sari and Mei over for there last Temple Prep class tonight.  They will both be leaving soon,
